Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus

Houston’s first and only bilingual children’s choir, Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus transforms lives through tuition-free music education, and community based performance opportunities. All musical selections are based on the robust canons of Spanish-language music from the folk, classical, and popular traditions representing Latin-America. Programming targets children from Pre-K through 8th grade from immigrant and bilingual households living in Houston’s historic Second Ward and the Greater East End. Our programs aim to build character and confidence, foster civic engagement, reduce drop-out rates and increase academic outcomes. Our “Jóvenes Cantantes” serve as cultural ambassadors of Second Ward and Houstons Latinx population, celebrating and sharing with all Houstonians the rich cultural traditions and language of our community.”
